Student-Athlete Q&A
What made Liberty University the right place for you to attend college/compete at the collegiate level?
Liberty is close to home and a Christian University with good environment, great coaches and great people.
Is there anything special you do pregame or postgame and why?
I decide before the season what kind of music I’ll listen to, and as long as we keep winning that’s the only type of music I’ll listen to for pregame.
Who in your life inspires you and why are they such an inspiration?
My dad, he’s been through several life-threatening car accidents and still gets up every day and puts one foot in front of the other.
What is your most memorable athletic moment/accomplishment?
Winning the CUSA Championship in 2023, and in high school my team won a state championship.
If you picked your jersey/uniform number, why is that number important to you?
68 just kind of happened, but it’s grown on me and I try to make it work.
Do you have any relatives who are playing or have played college or professional sports? (Names, relation to you,
what/where they played)?
My father, Chad Porterfield, was a linebacker for Virginia Tech and played semi-pro football for the Richmond Speed.
Favorite meal (breakfast/lunch/dinner) and what is that special meal?
My favorite breakfast is biscuits and gravy with apple butter. It’s just a great home cooked meal I grew up on.
What is the first app you check on your phone each day?
I open the Teamworks app in the morning every day.
What is your favorite hobby outside of athletics?
My hobby outside of athletics is working on cars.
Do you have any current pets (name and type of animal)?
Three German shepherds, Geist, Dakota and Thea.
Who was your favorite athlete growing up?
Ray Lewis.
What is your favorite possession and why?
My truck because it gives me a sense of freedom and reminds me what hard work can turn into.
What is your Go-To karaoke song?
Changes every day, but probably Good Time by Alan Jackson.
What is your dream vacation spot and why?
Outer Banks is pretty nice, I get to drive on the beach and fish from the shore.
