Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Wednesday, September 4, 2024, I'm Nick Pierce.
For a second straight week, the Flames football team is preparing to face another opponent with a first-year head coach. Tony Sanchez takes over New Mexico State this year after being elevated from wide receivers coach. With the Aggies also adding 36 players from the transfer portal, Flames Head Coach Jamey Chadwell says preparing for this game is tough.
"They brought transfers from here and there so you can watch some of the video they have, but I do think that's a challenge early on because, 'Ok, scheme wise they do this but who are the players doing it?' you know, no matter what your scheme is it's the players you got up there are the ones who make it go. So, I do think there's a little challenge with that. I expect them to play way better than they did. I expect us to play way better than we did. So, it should be a heck of a game."
The Flames and Aggies both opened their seasons with wins over FCS opponents. This will be the Conference USA opener for both teams. Liberty and New Mexico State will kick off on Saturday night at 10:30 Eastern.
