Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Wednesday, November 8, 2023, I'm Nick Pierce.
It'll be a battle of conference champions this week when the Lady Flames soccer team returns to the NCAA Tournament. Conference USA champion Liberty will face SEC champion and No. 4 national seed Georgia on Friday at 4 p.m. in Athens. Liberty midfielder and CUSA Tournament Offensive MVP Rachel DeRuby says she and her teammates are excited for the chance to make history.
"Yeah, we're really excited. It's really a blessing. I'm kind of just excited for our team to be able to be on a bigger platform to use what we have to glorify God further. I think we're definitely capable of winning. You know, we have that grit. We have that tenacity to come back and just kind of put up a good fight."
A win for Liberty would be it's first ever in the NCAA Tournament. You can see the game on ESPN+.
