Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Wednesday, November 13, 2024, I'm Nick Pierce.
Starting with men's hoops – the Flames move to 3-0 with a lopsided win in it's home opener. Tuesday night, Liberty breezed past Carolina University, 81-45. Thirteen players got minutes for the Flames, led by freshman Brett Decker, Jr.'s 18 points. Coach Ritchie McKay says it was important to get minutes for a lot of players.
"I think it's one of the reasons why you schedule games like this. There's a budget component to it. We have to be responsible, but I also think the guys at practice that don't get the same opportunities that the top seven, eight, nine get, they deserve some opportunities. I wanted to make sure everyone got a chance to touch the floor."
Next, the Flames will play back-to-back days this weekend when liberty faces FAU on Saturday and College of Charleston on Sunday. Both games will be in Charleston, S.C.
