Time now for today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Wednesday, May 22, 2024, I'm Nick Pierce.
The Flames begin their run in the Conference USA Baseball Championship tonight. Liberty will take on Sam Houston in the fourth and final game of the day. First pitch in Ruston, La. is set for around 8:30 Eastern. Right-hander Cole Hertzler will make the start on the mound for the Flames.
"Yeah, nothing matters before the playoffs start. The slate's clean now. So, the job is to win. We all know what's at stake, it's either win or stop playing. So, we're ready for the challenge."
Hertzler and Flames center fielder Kane Kepley were each named to the All-CUSA second team on Tuesday. Liberty pitcher Ben Blair, catcher Macaddin Dye and shortstop Tanner Marsh were also named to the All-Freshman team.
