Former Liberty baseball infielder Will Wagner is working to get back on the field for the Houston Astros' farm system. Wagner was playing for the AA Corpus Christi Hooks in May when he suffered an injury.
"It's kind of crazy because I've had this wrist pain for every year I've played baseball, and I've had it for two weeks and I'm playing through it and I'm like, 'Ok, it's going to go away.' then just on a swing my whole hand popped. So, my hamate bone broke – broke straight off, so, yeah, had a clean and easy surgery and it all went well."
Wagner is currently rehabbing in West Palm Beach, Fla. and hopes to be back on the field in about three weeks. He was hitting .270 with two homers in 20 games for Corpus Christi at the time of his injury.
