Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Wednesday, February 7, 2024, I'm Nick Pierce.
We're a little more than a week away from the start of college baseball season. Pitcher Garrett Horn returns to Liberty for his junior year after leading the club in wins, strikeouts and innings pitched last year.
"I would say the most exciting part is how close we are. Like I said, I've never had a feeling like this from the coaches to the players, to the managers we're all really tightly knit. No matter what happens during the year we're all going to be really tightly knit together and i think that's going to take us really far this year because this team is something special."
Horn is one of three Flames to be named preseason All-Conference USA, along with infielders Cam Foster and Aiden Sweatt. Liberty is picked second in the CUSA preseason poll. The Flames open the season next Friday, February 16th. Liberty will host Quinnipiac in a three-game set that weekend. The Flames will play six of their first seven games at home.
