Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Wednesday, April 9, 2025, I'm Nick Pierce.
On the softball field, Liberty rallies to beat Virginia in Lynchburg! Tuesday night, the Lady Flames scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to top the Cavaliers, 4-3. Brooke Roberts delivered the walk-off, two-run double.
"Well, I'm just trying to put the ball hard in play, because if I do, we only had one out and I could move the runners to put them in scoring position. Just before the inning, though, I told everybody if we win every pitch then we'll win the game and I felt like I won every pitch, even though I'm not swinging and missing, they were good pitches to swing at. So, I just kept swinging at good pitches and it worked out."
Liberty's now won three straight. Next, the Lady Flames are at New Mexico State for a Conference USA series this weekend.
And Flames baseball is back at home this weekend. Liberty will host 25th ranked Western Kentucky in a CUSA series. Game one is Friday at six p.m.
