Time now for today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Wednesday, April 24, 2024, I'm Nick Pierce.
After day two of the Conference USA Golf Championship, the Liberty Flames find themselves at No. 2 on the leaderboard. On Tuesday, the Flames moved up one spot and Josh Ryan finished the day at 3-under. Ryan leads the Flames and holds second place on the leaderboard. The top four teams advance to semifinal match play on Thursday.
On to softball – the Lady Flames pick up a midweek win at Longwood. Liberty won 9-3 in Farmville on Tuesday night. Rachel Roupe blasted her 12th and 13th home runs of the year.
And the Flames men's basketball team adds two more signees for next year. Minnesota transfer Isaiah Ihnen and great Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year Jayvon Maughmer are joining the Flames roster. Ihnen is a 6-9 forward from Germany, who played in 28 games with seven starts for the Gophers. Maughmer averaged 20 points and shot 41 percent from three for Division II Cedarville.
