Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Tuesday, September 3, 2024, I'm Nick Pierce.
During last Saturday's win over Campbell, Liberty football wide receiver Treon Sibley's touchdown catch late in the second quarter gave the Flames the lead for good. Making the grab, then breaking two tackles, Sibley took the ball 70 yards to the end zone, giving Liberty a 17-10 lead at halftime.
"Man, it was a huge momentum shift. You know, we didn't start how we planned to. So, you know, were just trying to pick up the pace and we got a break right there."
Sibley's five catches and 109 yards were both career highs against the Camels. Last year, Sibley emerged as a reliable target for quarterback Kaidon Salter. Now as a senior, Sibley is one of the most trusted receivers on the team.
"You know, I started off my career just strictly special teams. So, I've just been waiting on my chance and I'm just taking full advantage of it."
Sibley and the Flames will open Conference USA play this Saturday night at New Mexico State.
