Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Tuesday, March 18, 2025, I'm Nick Pierce.
The Liberty Lady Flames are back in the NCAA Tournament for an 18th time after winning the program's first Conference USA title. 13 seed Liberty will play at four seed Kentucky on Friday at 12 Noon. For head coach Carey Green, it's the first time he's taken his team to the Big Dance since 2018.
"I'm certainly excited for them. They haven't had the experiences that I have and hopefully I can assist them. Yes, I need to go back in my closet and pull out those dancing shoes. They've got a little dust on them, but we just want to celebrate with them. They've earned this."
Liberty men's basketball forward Zach Cleveland is a finalist for the Lou Henson Award. The annual honor goes to the top player in mid-major basketball. Cleveland is averaging 11 points and leads the Flames in rebounds and assists. 12 seed Liberty meets five seed Oregon in the NCAA Tournament round of 64 on Friday night at 10:10 Eastern.
And Flames baseball continues it's homestand today as Liberty hosts 11th ranked Wake Forest. First pitch in Lynchburg is set for 4 p.m.
