Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Tuesday, January 7, 2025, I'm Nick Pierce.
After splitting it's first two Conference USA games at home, the Flames men's basketball team heads out on the road this week for a pair of league games at Sam Houston and Louisiana Tech. The Flames are currently 67th in the NCAA NET rankings. That's tops in Conference USA but three other teams in the league join Liberty inside the top 130. Flames Head Coach Ritchie McKay says every confernece game will be a challenge.
"It'll be a tough night every night. This will be the best conference that Liberty has ever competed in for men's basketball, in terms of national ranking or the highest level. So, I think we're in for a fun ride and a really bumpy road."
Liberty's opponents this week, Sam Houston and Louisiana Tech are a combined 0-4 in the conference but also a combined 9-1 at home. Liberty and Sam Houston tip off Thursday night in Huntsville, Texas at 9 p.m. Eastern.
