Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Tuesday, January 14, 2025, I'm Nick Pierce.
The Softball America preseason top 25 poll has Liberty ranked at No. 20. The Lady Flames are coming off a 38-win season, a Conference USA championship and an appearance in the Athens Regional final. It's the third time in the last seven years Liberty has been ranked in a preseason poll.
Liberty right fielder Rachel Roupe is gaining attention as one of the top players in the nation entering this season. Monday, Roupe was ranked the 42nd best overall player in the country by DI Softball. Just last week, Roupe was ranked 38th in the nation on Softball America's preseason top 100. Roupe and the Lady Flames will open the season in Leesburg, Fla. on February 7th against Radford.
And we're now just 31 days away from the start of Flames baseball. Liberty will open the season at home with first-year head coach Bradley LeCroy against St. John's on February 14th.
