Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Tuesday, December 3, 2024, I'm Nick Pierce.
Even though the Flames aren't playing for the Conference USA football title this Friday, there's still a bowl game to be played. Liberty's 20-18 loss at Sam Houston last week eliminated the Flames from the conference championship game, but with an 8-3 record, Liberty will play in a bowl game for a sixth-straight year. After Friday's game, Flames running back Quinton Cooley was asked if winning a bowl game this year becomes even more important now.
"Yeah, it does because you want to leave out on a good note. Especially for different type of seniors and stuff. Especially for me, you want to leave on a good note but, it hurts."
Bowl announcements are coming this Sunday.
Liberty is ranked 53rd in the initial release of the college basketball NET rankings. The rankings dropped Monday and the Flames are ranked 37 spots ahead of the next Conference USA school, Louisiana Tech at 90th. Liberty is 8-1 and will host Mississippi Valley State on Saturday.
