Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Tuesday, August 13, 2024, I'm Nick Pierce.
You only get one first impression - Will Wagner's with the Toronto Blue Jays won't soon be forgotten. The former Liberty baseball second baseman made his Major League Debut on Monday night, going 3-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored as the Blue Jays beat the Angels, 4-2 in Los Angeles.
Wagner becomes just the fourth player in Toronto franchise history to have three hits in his Major League Debut and is the first to do it since 2010. Wagner is the eighth former Flame to play in the major leagues and the second to make his debut this year.
Liberty football Fan Appreciation Day is scheduled for this Saturday at Williams Stadium in Lynchburg. The event is free and open to all fans. Gates open at 5:30 and the Flames will scrimmage at 6 p.m.
And we're now just 18 days away from the season opener! Liberty hosts Campbell on August 31st in Lynchburg.
