This is your Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Thursday, September 7, 2023, I'm Nick Pierce.
The Lady Flames soccer team still holds the longest unbeaten streak in the nation. Liberty is 6-0 this year and 16-0-3 in it's last 19 games, including last Sunday's 3-1 win over defending Big 12 champion West Virginia. Tonight, Liberty visits Queens at six o'clock and Head Coach Lang Wedemeyer says his pregame message is simple.
"What we've told our players is that we have to be careful of not believing too much hype (chuckles). You know, the adage that we've kind of adopted as an athletic department of being kind of humble and hungry and taking one game at a time. We are not good enough to just step on the field and win. We have to bring our best and we have to play to our standard every game. So, you know it's easy to get up for a game like West Virginia. When we go to Queens we are going to be in a really tough game. So, we've got to come and be our best."
