Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Thursday, May 9, 2024, I'm Nick Pierce.
Beginning with Flames baseball – Liberty caps a 4-1 homestand with a win over Virginia Tech. Wednesday night, the Flames came-from-behind to beat the Hokies, 13-8. Trailing, 4-2 in the second inning, Aidan Sweatt hit a two-out, three-run homer to put the Flames in front.
Liberty now moves on to play Dallas Baptist on the road in a crucial three-game CUSA series this weekend. Game one is Friday night at 7:35 Eastern. The Flames are just one game back of the Patriots for second place in the conference standings.
And the Lady Flames begin play in the Conference USA Softball Championship today. Liberty will face the team that's hosting the tournament, New Mexico State. First pitch between the Flames and Aggies is at 2:05 Eastern. You can hear it on the Liberty Flames mobile app and www.LibertyFlames.com.
