Time now for today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Thursday, May 23, 2024, I'm Nick Pierce.
After last night's rainout, Liberty is scheduled to play Sam Houston today in both team's opening game of the Conference USA Baseball Championship. The Flames and Bearkats will get underway at 12:05 Eastern in Ruston, La. The entire double-elimination tournament is hosted by Louisiana Tech this week. You can hear every Flames game this week at the CUSA Championship on www.LibertyFlames.com and the Liberty Flames mobile app.
And from track & field – two Flames have punched their tickets to the NCAA Outdoor National Championship. Wednesday, at the NCAA Division I East First Rounds, John Hicks qualified for the men's hammer and Ben Shughart qualified for the men's javelin. The Flames also had two quarterfinal qualifiers - Kyle Harkabus in the men's 1,500 and Omari Lewis men's 100. They'll both race on Friday for a chance at nationals.
