Time now for today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Thursday, March 21, 2024, I'm Nick Pierce.
Beginning with softball – the Lady Flames pick up another win over a ranked team. Wednesday in Lynchburg, Liberty downed No. 21 Charlotte, 6-5. Rachel Roupe had two hits for the Flames, including the go-ahead RBI double in the fifth inning.
"I think this win proves to us that we can compete and it's really cool to see things just start to click. I think it just gives us confidence in knowing that we can compete against any team in the country and just to keep trusting our gifts and trusting each other and just keep bringing each other up."
Liberty's now 15-12, also with a win over a ranked Penn State.
And from men's tennis – No. 57 ranked Liberty dominated Richmond on Wednesday in a 7-0 sweep. After being named Conference USA Player of the Week earlier in the day, Rafael Marques Da Silva teamed with Thando Longwe-Smit to win their doubles match against the Spiders. Da Silva then won his singles match in straight sets.
