Flames football kicker Colin Karhu is preparing for his first season with the team. The North Greenville transfer is already a Phil Steele Preseason First Team All-Conference USA selection. Karhu says the transition to Liberty wasn't easy at first.
"The experience during spring was definitely hard, at first, because I was not used to the type of environment compared to NGU. NGU was real small, probably had a total of 2,200 total kids. I knew everyone. Everyone knew who I was. Then I came to Liberty where there's about 15,000 kids. The facilities are much nicer, there's a lot more money involved in the football program and it just was a lot to take in and get used to. But as the time has gone by I've really come to know and love all the boys here and it's feeling awesome to be here."
Over the last three years at Division II North Greenville, Karhu was good on 78 percent of his field goal attempts at 32-for-41.
