Another big opponent is back on the schedule for the Liberty men's basketball team. For a second straight year, Liberty will face Alabama. This year, the Flames will meet the Crimson Tide in the CM. Newton Classic in Birmingham on December 30th. Alabama won the SEC and reached the Sweet 16 last year. Liberty won 27 games a year ago, including a first-round NIT victory over Villanova. Tickets for this game will go on sale at a later date.
For a third straight year, the Flames baseball team is an American Baseball Coach's Association team academic excellence award winner. The Flames posted a 3.10 grade point average last year. They're among just 130 teams to receive the award out of more than 300 division one programs.
And we're now just 37 days away from Flames football. Liberty opens the season at home against Bowling Green on September 2nd.
