Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Thursday, December 14, 2023, I'm Nick Pierce.
Beginning with men's hoops as the Flames get back in the win column. Wednesday night at Liberty Arena in Lynchburg, Liberty topped Tennessee State, 74-52. The Flames trailed by one at halftime. Guard Joseph Venzant on what the Flames did to take control of the game.
"I think we set the tone in the second half and then we let our defense dictate how the game was going to go. I think, the first half, like we said, out of character. We were putting them on the line a little bit too much, transition baskets that they had I think that wasn't us. So, I think, just locking back in and asserting our dominance on the defensive end, that's what happened."
Venzant had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Next, Liberty will host Saint Andrew's on Saturday at one o'clock.
The Lady Flames came up short Wednesday as Radford downed Liberty, 57-45 at Liberty Arena. Next, liberty plays at Richmond on Saturday at 2 p.m.
