Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Thursday, August 22, 2024, I'm Nick Pierce.
A doubleheader of Flames soccer is on the docket tonight in Lynchburg. First, the Lady Flames look to get to 3-0 when Liberty entertains VCU. Game time is at 5 p.m. The Lady Flames have allowed just one goal in two games – a big reason for that is the play of Kayla Magee. The South Carolina transfer was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
After the Lady Flames are finished, Liberty's men will host Mount Olive in the Flames' season opener. Game time is set for 7:30 eastern. Admission to both games is free.
And more football preseason recognition for Flames quarterback Kaidon Salter – Wednesday, Salter was named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award watch list. The award is given annually to the best offensive player in college football from the state of Texas.
We're now just nine days away from kickoff when Liberty hosts Campbell, next Saturday, August 31st.
