Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Thursday, August 15, 2024, I'm Nick Pierce.
The season begins tonight for Lady Flames soccer! Liberty is at High Point for a six o'clock match in High Point, N.C. After winning last year's Conference USA title, Liberty is picked to win the conference again this fall. But head coach Lang Wedemeyer's team also has ten new freshmen and two transfers. The coach says there's still plenty to figure out.
"I think the biggest thing for us moving forward right now is just trying to find what the best grouping of players are - who works really well – outside back and wing together or what's the best three in the mid field that are going to really work well together. Then, what's the next line that comes in after those players and that's going to take us a few weeks."

On to football – Liberty quarterback Kaidon Salter is on the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award preseason watch list. The award is given annually to the top upper classmen quarterback in college football.
