Time now for today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Thursday, April 4, 2024, I'm Nick Pierce.
Beginning with softball from Wednesday night, in a battle of in-state foes, No. 13 Virginia Tech edges Liberty, 6-5. In a back-and-forth game, the Hokies hit four home runs on the night and scored three runs in the sixth inning to take the lead for good. Rachel Roupe had three hits for Liberty including a two-run double. Liberty's back at home this weekend for a Conference USA series with Western Kentucky.
For the second time this year, Liberty's Deji Thomas-Smith is the Conference USA Male Tennis Athlete of the Week. Thomas-Smith went 2-1 last week and led the Flames to a pair of wins over ranked teams. Thomas-Smith has now won 11 straight singles matches dating back to February 11th.
And from women's lacrosse – Liberty is at home today hosting Coastal Carolina in an ASUN match-up. Game time is at one o'clock at the Liberty Lacrosse Field. Liberty has won it's last five games against Coastal.
