Flames football remains unbeaten with an after-hours come-from-behind win at home. Liberty's 35-24 victory over East Carolina has the Flames at 4-0. The game started on Saturday night and ended in the wee hours Sunday morning after a four and a half hour plus rain and lightning delay kept both teams in the locker rooms until nearly 11 o'c'lock. The Flames trailed 17-0 before coming back to stun the Pirates. Liberty's Reese Smith had a career-high three touchdown catches.
Former Liberty quarterback Malik Willis is now 2-0 as the starter for the Green Bay Packers. Sunday, Willis led the Packers to a 30-14 road win over the Tennessee Titans – the team that originally drafted Willis in 2022 before trading him to the Packers this year. Willis passed for 202 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 73 yards and another score.
