Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Monday, May 6, 2024, I'm Nick Pierce.
Starting with softball – Liberty closes the regular season with a win over tenth ranked LSU. Sunday, the Lady Flames knocked off the Tigers, 3-1, in Baton Rouge. Rachel Roupe belted a two-run homer. After the game, Roupe was asked what it's like getting a win in an SEC ballpark.
"It's obviously a great environment to be out here but Coach (Richardson) has prepared us so well to be in these kind of environments. For example, going to Oklahoma, playing in front of thousands of people there, but it's not about who's watching. You know, we're playing for an audience of one. So, we go out on the field every time and we're not worried about what's going on."
On to baseball – Liberty's coming off a wild Conference USA series win over FIU. In the series finale Saturday, the Flames came-from-behind twice to beat the Panthers, 12-11. Todd Hudson had the walk-off RBI single in the ninth and also picked up the win on the mound in relief.
