Time now for today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Monday, May 20, 2024, I'm Nick Pierce.
Heartbreak for Flames softball. Sunday, in the Athens Regional final, Georgia rallied for two runs with two outs in the seventh inning to beat Liberty, 3-2. The Lady Flames are denied their first trip to a Super Regional and their season ends with a record of 38-25. In 2024, Liberty won the Conference USA Championship in it's first season in the league and advanced to it's fourth NCAA Regional final in six seasons.
On to baseball, the Flames are the No. 5 seed in this week's Conference USA Tournament. Liberty will take on four-seed Sam Houston on Wednesday night at 8:30 Eastern in Ruston, La. The entire tournament is hosted by Louisiana Tech this year. Liberty swept the season series from Sam Houston.
