Flames spring football practice is in the books. Saturday, Liberty held it's annual spring game at Williams Stadium in Lynchburg. Second year head coach Jamey Chadwell says his team was able to practice smart during spring.
"We did our best this spring to make sure that our one's got work but they never got taken to the ground. Quinton Cooley doesn't need to be tackled, right? Kaidon Salter doesn't need to be tackled. Some of those guys, so, we did a good job of. I don't want to say protecting – but making sure those guys got better but stayed as healthy as possible."
During Saturday's spring game, Kaidon Salter had a 60-yard touchdown pass to Coastal Carolina transfer wide receiver Tyson Mobley. The Flames open the season at home on August 31st against Campbell.
Other action from Sunday, Liberty's men's tennis team got a 4-1 win over Grand Canyon. The 51st-ranked Flames are now 10-5 this spring. And in softball, Liberty wrapped up it's stay in Oklahoma Sunday with a 7-1 win over Louisiana.
