Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Monday, March 17, 2025, I'm Nick Pierce.
Both the Liberty men's and women's basketball teams are preparing for the NCAA Tournament! The Liberty men are a 12 seed and will face five seed Oregon in the Round of 64. The Flames and Ducks will tip off Friday night at 10:10 Eastern. Flames Head Coach Ritchie McKay has his team back in the Big Dance for the first time since 2021.
"I think it's really hard to get to the NCAA Tournament. The fact that we qualified, or were in three consecutive tournaments, it might have promoted, like, a little bit of entitlement. You know, the three teams prior to this one that didn't make it, they were still special teams to coach. Really, unbelievable dudes. One of those teams made it to the NIT, which is hard to do. So, I think we'll relish in this."
The Lady Flames are also dancing. Liberty is a 13 seed and will play at four seed Kentucky in the NCAA Women's Tournament, Friday at 12 Noon in Lexington.
