Time now for today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Monday, March 11, 2024, I'm Nick Pierce.
The field is set for the Conference USA Basketball Championships this week in Huntsville, Ala. Liberty is the No. 4 seed in the men's tournament and will play UTEP in the quarterfinals on Thursday at 6:30 Eastern. The Flames earned the four seed after ending the regular season with an 82-79 win at home over Western Kentucky on Saturday.
Senior Kyle Rode had 31 points in his final home game as a Flame. On Sunday, Rode was named the Conference USA Player of the Week for the third time this year.
The Lady Flames are the two seed in the CUSA women's tournament. Liberty will face Western Kentucky on Wednesday at three Eastern in Huntsville. Saturday in the regular season finale, the Lady Flames downed the Hilltoppers, 84-77 in Bowling Green to split the season series.
