This is your Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Monday, July 3, 2023, I'm Nick Pierce.
For a third straight year, Liberty finishes inside the top 100 in the Learfield Director's Cup. Liberty finished 98th in this year's standings, that's first in the ASUN and third in the state of Virginia, behind only Virginia and Virginia Tech.
Liberty is also now an official member of Conference USA. The Flames new conference affiliation began on Saturday. All Flames teams will compete in CUSA with the exception of the men's soccer team, which moves to the Ohio Valley Conference. The women's swimming and diving program stays in the CCSA. The field hockey program stays in the BIG EAST and women's lacrosse remains in the ASUN.
And the Flames baseball team has hired Tyler Robinson as it's new pitching coach. Robinson comes to Liberty after spending the past nine seasons at Campbell, where he became the pitching coach in 2019.
And we're now just 61 days away from Flames football. Liberty opens the season at home against Bowling Green on September 2nd.
