Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Monday, January 6, 2025, I'm Nick Pierce.
Starting with men's hoops where the Flames are coming off their first Conference USA win of the year. Saturday night in Lynchburg, Liberty topped Middle Tennessee, 73-63. Kaden Metheny led the Flames and all scorers with 19 points. Colin Porter chipped in 16, one off his season high.
"You know, sometimes, I think I need to shoot it more. Sometimes I need to get others involved. We have a team full of guys where it can be their night. So, I think tonight the ball just found my hands and I had the confidence to shoot it. It was given to me by all my teammates, the managers, the coaching staff."
Liberty's now 13-2 and 1-1 in CUSA. The Lady Flames took their first conference loss on Saturday, as Liberty fell on the road to defending CUSA champion Middle Tennessee, 69-41. Now 1-1, the Lady Flames are back home Thursday night against Sam Houston.
