Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Monday, April 22, 2024, I'm Nick Pierce.
The Conference USA Men's Golf Championship begins today. The Flames are in Texarkana, Ark. to begin the four-day event, which starts with 54 holes over the first three days, with the top four teams advancing to match play on Thursday. The Flames have won seven conference championships since 2011, but this will be the first time they've played a conference championship that is determined by match play. Follow @LibertyGolf on social media for updates.
On to softball – the Lady Flames got a Conference USA series win over the weekend. Sunday in Lynchburg, Liberty downed New Mexico State, 4-3. Liberty scored three times in the sixth, including a game-tying two-run homer from Brooke Roberts. Then Sierra Kersten's RBI single gave the Flames the lead.
And from baseball – the Flames dropped their series finale at Western Kentucky on Sunday. The Hilltoppers came from behind to win, 5-4, earning the series sweep.
