This is your Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Friday, September 8, 2023, I'm Nick Pierce.
We're one day away from Flames football in Lynchburg. Saturday, at Williams Stadium, 1-0 Liberty will host 1-1 New Mexico State in the first ever Conference USA game for both schools. Flames running back Billy Lucas says he and the team are embracing the moment.
"You know, it's a chance to make history. It'd be the first conference win for Liberty and, you know, the first game is always a way to start off and carry that momentum in to the season. So, really just trying to set the standard in this conference and go out there and get a win."
Liberty and New Mexico State will kick off Saturday night at six o'clock in Lynchburg.
And the Flames men's golf team begins it's fall season this weekend. Liberty is in San Antonio for the Valero Texas Collegiate. The three-day event hosted by UTSA begins Saturday and also includes Virginia, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma and others.
