Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Friday, October 27, 2023, I'm Nick Pierce.
The Flames' golf team sits atop the leaderboard after day one of the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate, Liberty has a four-stroke lead on second-place Georgia. The Flames finished the opening round at 22-under. Individually, Brett Reid paced the Flames firing a career-best 64 to finish 7-under for the day. Reid is currently tied for second in the field. Liberty resumes play today at 2:30 Eastern.
On to men's soccer – the Flames get a late goal Thursday night to earn a tie on the road. Liberty and Houston Christian finished in a 1-1 draw after Bryce Swinehart's score for the Flames knotted things up in the 86th minute. The Flames finish the regular season on Sunday at Incarnate Word.
And the Flames cross country team is set to compete in the Conference USA Championships on Saturday in Bowling Green, Ky. Liberty's men will run the 8K at 10 a.m. Eastern. The Lady Flames will run the 6K at 11 a.m.
