Beginning with a big comeback for Flames baseball – Thursday in Lynchburg, Liberty rallied for a 4-0 deficit to down Sam Houston, 6-4 in the Conference USA series opener. In the ninth inning with the bases loaded and two out, Flames reliever Ben Blair struck out Hunter Autrey swinging with a 96 mile-per-hour fastball to get the win.
"During the inning, I was pretty calm but once I struck that last dude out, I think I blacked out a little bit."
Liberty and Sam Houston play game two of the series today at four p.m. in Lynchburg. Airtime is 3:30 on the Liberty Flames Sports Network from Van Wagner. Hear it on www.LibertyFlames.com and the Flames mobile app.
And from softball, Liberty shut out Louisiana Tech, 2-0 on Thursday. Freshman Kaylan Yoder tossed a one-hitter for Liberty, which now moves into first place in the conference standings. Game two of the series is today at four o'clock in Lynchburg.
