Summer workouts continue for Liberty football as the Flames prepare for the 2024 season. Defensive end TJ Bush returns for his sophomore year. He says the defense is taking full advantage of the individual work this summer.
"We were a young group last year. I feel like this summer has been really important for us to fix the mistakes from last year and just be able to mature and grow as a unit. A lot of the key players are coming back, so I feel like it'll definitely show. I feel we've really matured and it's showing on the field – mental toughness and just knowing who we are, having an identity. Not just going out there and playing but playing with a purpose, having a meaning behind why we're playing."
Bush is a Phil Steele Preseason All-Conference USA selection after posting 25 tackles and a sack in 12 games last year.
And we're just 71 days away from Flames football. Liberty will host Campbell in the season opener on Saturday, August 31st at Williams Stadium in Lynchburg. Kickoff's at 6 p.m. Eastern.
