Replicating the success Flames football had in 2023 isn't going to be easy. Last year, Liberty went undefeated in the regular season, won the CUSA title and played in the Fiesta Bowl. On a recent Flames Central podcast, Athletics Director Ian McCaw was asked about the football strength of schedule for this fall.
"I think we have a good strength of schedule this year. Obviously, the game with App State will be very, very challenging. Got a game against a good team from the American in East Carolina. So, it's definitely going to be a step up in terms of where we have been. Then, we're fortunate to add a series with JMU here in the next couple of years, as well. That's going to give us an added strength of schedule but really we've just got to, week in and week out, have to play great football and if we do like we did last year then obviously we're going to put ourselves in a great position."
