Today, we've got Flames track & field news. First, redshirt freshman thrower Desmond Coleman is the Virginia Sports Information Director's Rookie of the Year. Coleman is one of 11 all-state selections from the Flames. This past year, Coleman broke the school freshman discus record twice. His throw of 194-3 was also the best in the nation this year for any freshman. You can see each of Liberty's all-state selections at www.LibertyFlames.com.
And Liberty runner Prosper Ekporere is the winner of this year's Nigerian men's 110 hurdles national title. It happened Thursday in Benin City. Ekporere's time of 13.66 broke his own program record and set a new lifetime best time.
And we're now just 57 days away from Flames football. Liberty opens the season at home against Bowling Green on September 2nd from Williams Stadium in Lynchburg.
