Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Friday, July 5, 2024, I'm Nick Pierce.
Several current Flames baseball players are playing in summer leagues. Centerfielder Kane Kepley is spending his summer in the prestigious Cape Cod League with the Hyannis Harbor Hawks. There, Kepley is hitting .255 and leads the league with 16 runs scored and is third in the cape with 11 stolen bases.
Pitchers Ben Roberts and Bryce Dolby are making their summer home in the Appalachian League with the Tri-state Coal Cats. In three appearances, Roberts is 2-0 and has not allowed a run, with 15 strikeouts in only six innings of work.
And left-hander Spencer Williams is in the Valley League with the New Market Rebels. In four starts, Williams is 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA.
We're also a little more than a week away from the Major League Draft. Flames pitchers Cole Hertzler and Garrett Horn are hopeful to land opportunities with big league clubs. This year's draft is set for July 14th through the 16th in Fort Worth, Texas.
