Former Liberty baseball pitcher Willi Martin is now making a name for himself – as a hitting coach. Martin, who pitched for three seasons at Liberty, is now the hitting coach for the single A Palm Beach Cardinals. Recently, Martin dropped by the Liberty Flames Podcast to share his story.
"I stood out as a pitcher. I guess I developed quicker as a pitcher. So, that led to more college scholarship offers and the recruiting thing and I just thought that's what I was meant to do. It was all a blessing though because had I not gotten all of the experience as a pitcher I probably would not have been as good of a hitter, and I probably wouldn't have wanted it as much or worked as hard at it as I did."
