Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Friday, January 17, 2025, I'm Alan York.
First in men's hoops, Thursday night UTEP comes to Lynchburg and holds off Liberty, 72-70. Flames guard Taelon Peter led all scorers with 20 points. The Flames fall to 14-4 overall, with all four losses coming by five points or less and three of them by three points or less. Peter says he's staying encouraged.
"It means that we're not too far away from being where we want to be. A couple of possessions away from being undefeated. We're working on those things and, like I said, not too far away. So, that's good. We're going to keep on fighting and find a way."
Liberty will host New Mexico State on Saturday night at seven o'clock. The Aggies are 4-0 in CUSA.
From women's hoops, the Lady Flames pick up a road win Thursday night as Liberty tops UTEP, 75-64. Emma Hess led the Lady Flames and all scorers with 15. Liberty visits New Mexico State on Saturday at 4 p.m. Eastern.
