Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Friday, January 10, 2025, I'm Nick Pierce.
Starting with men's hoops, the Flames pick up a big road win in Conference USA. Thursday night in Texas, Liberty topped Sam Houston, 76-68. The win snapped a 16-game home conference win-streak for the Bearkats. Liberty guard Taelon Peter was one of four Flames in double figures with 15 points.
"It's always tough to win on the road. You know, so, we knew that coming in and we made sure to take it really serious and don't underestimate anybody. It's a huge road win for us and hopefully we can continue to stack them."
The Flames are now 2-1 in conference play. Next, Liberty plays at Louisiana Tech, Saturday night at eight o'clock Eastern.
And the Lady Flames also grabbed a CUSA win on Thursday. Liberty downed Sam Houston, 69-54, at Liberty Arena in Lynchburg. Emma Hess paced the Flames and all scorers with 19. The Lady Flames will host Louisiana Tech on Saturday at two o'clock.
