Flames softball is back in the win column. Thursday, Liberty knocked off Coastal Carolina, 2-1 at THE Spring Games in Leesburg, Fla. Elena Escobar got the win, tossing 6.2 innings with seven strikeouts. Liberty plays a doubleheader today, facing Illinois at two o'clock and Iowa at five.
It's also opening day for college baseball – Liberty opens at home against Quinnipiac today in the first of a three-game series. First pitch is at four o'clock at Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium. The Flames will send junior right-hander Cole Hertzler to the mound for his first career start. And in basketball this weekend, the Lady Flames are at home for a Conference USA match-up with Sam Houston. Tipoff Saturday is at two p.m. Eastern. Liberty's men are at Sam Houston on Saturday. That game tips at 7:30 Eastern.
