Time now for Today's Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Friday, December 8, 2023, I'm Nick Pierce.
Flames basketball continues it's homestand at Liberty Arena in Lynchburg this weekend. Liberty's men are 7-2 and will host 7-1 Grand Canyon on Saturday at two o'clock. GCU is coming off a 79-73 win over 25th-ranked San Diego State. Liberty has won 20 straight at home, the second-longest streak in the nation. Saturday's game will be on ESPNU.
The Lady Flames hit the road this weekend as Liberty visits third-ranked NC State. That game is Sunday at 2 p.m. You can watch on ACC Network extra. You can also hear both basketball games this weekend on the Liberty Flames Sports Network from Van Wagner and the Liberty Flames mobile app.
And former Flames baseball head coach Al Worthington is set to be inducted to the Virginia Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Worthington was Liberty's first head coach. He pitched more than 600 games in the big leagues and is still the Flames all-time winningest coach.
