As part of the team's preparations for their Friday night Conference USA opener at Delaware, Liberty Head Football Coach Jamey Chadwell met with the media on Tuesday.
During the media session, Chadwell provided his final thoughts on Liberty's primetime win over Coastal Carolina, plus looked ahead to the matchup against Fightin' Blue Hens.
After Chadwell's weekly presser, running back Kam Davis and defensive lineman Lorenzo Payne addressed the media from the Media Room inside the Liberty Football Center.
The Flames posted a 59-30 Homecoming win over the Fightin' Blue Hens on Nov. 1, 2025, in the only previous matchup between the two teams.
Liberty owns a 26-9 all-time record against CUSA opponents (at time of meeting), including a 17-8 mark since joining the conference. The Flames captured the 2023 CUSA title in their first season as conference members.
The Flames have increased their rushing yardage and total yardage totals in each game so far this season. Most recently, they posted 263 rushing yards and 485 total yards during a 34-17 win at Coastal Carolina on Sept. 24.
Jamey Chadwell is 28-14 in his fourth season at Liberty and owns a 59-20 coaching record dating back to the start of 2020.
At Coastal Carolina, Liberty posted its first 100-yard rusher (Kam Davis - 166) and first 100-yard receiver (Makai Jackson - 149) of the season. Jackson hauled in two touchdowns, giving him four straight games with a touchdown reception to begin his Liberty career.
Liberty's defense limited Coastal Carolina to 47 yards after halftime. The Flames are outscoring opponents 66-14 in the second half this season, allowing just one touchdown after the intermission.
Liberty is the only FBS team which has yet to allow a fourth quarter point in 2026, as the Flames own a 42-0 edge during the final 15 minutes.
