Press Conference: Coastal Carolina

As part of the team's preparations for their Thursday night primetime matchup on ESPN with Coastal Carolina, Liberty Head Football Coach Jamey Chadwell met with the media on Tuesday.
During the media session, Chadwell provided his final thoughts on Liberty's win over Ball State, plus looked ahead to the game against the Flames' former Big South rival.
After Chadwell's weekly presser, wide receiver Makai Jackson and linebacker Aidan Vaughan addressed the media from the Media Room inside the Liberty Football Center.
The Flames are 8-7 all-time against the Chanticleers with the most recent meeting being Liberty's dramatic 37-34 (OT) win in the 2020 Cure Bowl. Three of the teams' previous 15 meetings have required overtime.
Liberty owns a 10-6 all-time record against Sun Belt opponents (at time of meeting) but has lost three in a row, including a 20-13 loss at James Madison in the Sept. 5 season opener.
The Flames are coming off back-to-back home victories, including a resounding 51-15 win over Ball State on Saturday. Liberty posted a season-high 460 yards of total offense and its largest margin of victory under Jamey Chadwell.
Chadwell is 27-14 at Liberty and owns a 58-20 coaching record dating back to the start of 2020. He spent five years (2017, 2019-22) as Coastal Carolina's head coach, posting a 39-22 record for the Chanticleers.
The first of four Liberty quarterbacks to see playing time against Ball State, Deshawn Purdie completed 13-of-20 passes for 211 yards and three first-half TDs. He has started each of his first three games as a Flame, tallying five passing touchdowns and no interceptions.
Liberty's defense limited Ball State to 261 yards, including just 93 through the air. The Flames have yet to allow a point in the fourth quarter this season, outscoring opponents 28-0 during the final period.
