Note: Below is the main feature in the Flames Illustrated game program vs. Ball State.
When I entered the transfer portal, I had a distinct vision for the next chapter of my journey.
It wasn't solely about finding the most prestigious football program or the one with the flashiest facilities.
For me, it went beyond the X's and O's.
I was seeking a place that embraced me for who I am, both as an athlete and as an individual.
This Texas-born and raised son wanted a home away from home, a family that would nurture my personal and athletic growth.
And when I discovered Liberty University, I knew I had found exactly what I was looking for.
Late in the process, I came across Liberty, and immediately I felt drawn to this special place.
The timing may have been unconventional, but I firmly believe that everything happens for a reason.
Within days of committing, I was on campus, ready to begin this new chapter.
It was a whirlwind, but I was ecstatic to be part of the Flames' football family.
Unique Connections
From the moment I set foot on campus, I felt an immediate connection with the coaching staff.
Coach Chadwell's transparent and genuine approach stood out to me.
He didn't sugarcoat anything or make empty promises. Instead, he shared his vision for the program and what he expected from each player.
Eight months later, I can confidently say that everything he said was true. His transparency and authenticity have only deepened my respect for him and the entire coaching staff.
I know he has been through a lot personally with his health issues, and we as a team have learned from him while supporting him at the same time.
Having played for different coaches in the past, I can say that Coach Chadwell is truly unique.
He takes a hands-on approach and stays deeply engaged with the team, while also letting his coaches do what they do best.
He strikes the perfect balance, and I believe he embodies what it means to be a great head coach.
Beyond The Field
While football is undoubtedly a significant part of my life, I have always been passionate about exploring other interests.
I have a degree in communications with a minor in business from my time at Baylor, but my true calling lies in the world of cybersecurity.
At Liberty, I'm pursuing a master's degree in cybersecurity with a focus on cybercrime. The intricate world of hacking and programming has always fascinated me, and I'm eager to make an impact in this field.
My ultimate goal is to work for the government, possibly with the CIA or another agency, combating cybercrime and ensuring the safety of our digital world.
Beyond football, I'm driven to leave a lasting impact in whatever I do, and cybersecurity provides me with a platform to do just that.
A Family Legacy
Family has always been an integral part of my life, and they have played a significant role in shaping the person I am today.
My father, who worked with veterans as a vocational rehab counselor, instilled in me the values of service and dedication.
He chose to be present in my life rather than pursuing a career in the military, and I am grateful for his unwavering support.
My mother, who climbed the ranks in the education field, has been a constant source of inspiration and encouragement.
Their influence has been instrumental in my journey, and I carry their lessons with me every day.
Growing up, I may have been an only child, but I never felt alone.
My father coached my Little League football and AAU basketball teams, and we had a tight-knit group of friends who became like family.
We spent countless hours together, forging bonds that have lasted a lifetime.
Those experiences taught me the value of teamwork, camaraderie, and the importance of surrounding oneself with a supportive community.
A Diverse Range of Interests
Off the field, I have a diverse range of interests that keep me grounded and fulfilled.
Fishing, for example, holds a special place in my heart. It's a tradition I share with my dad. It was our thing – a time for us to connect and reflect on life.
After some time away from fishing, I have recently rediscovered my love for the sport. It serves as a way for me to unwind and embrace the beauty of nature.
Cooking is another passion of mine, and I take pride in creating delicious meals for myself and others. In the kitchen, I find a sense of creativity and fulfillment that complements my athletic pursuits.
Leaving My Impact on the Mountain
As I look ahead to the upcoming season, my focus is on leaving a lasting impact on the Liberty football program.
I know that last year isn't what people expect when they watch the Flames on the gridiron. I want to be part of a group that helps restore faith in this team and return to the standard that is expected of those who represent this University on the field.
Success on the field not only brings championships but also attracts talented recruits who can continue to elevate the program.
But beyond the wins and losses, my ultimate goal is to make a positive impact on the lives of my teammates and coaches.
Football is a means to an end for me, and it's the connections and relationships that truly matter.
I want to be remembered not only for my performance on the field but also for the love and support I bring to my teammates and the legacy I leave behind.
Liberty University has provided me with the platform to pursue my passions, both on and off the field.
With the support of the coaching staff, my family, and the Liberty community, I am confident that I can contribute to the team's success and make a lasting impact.
Together, we can build a legacy that extends far beyond the football field and leaves a positive imprint on the lives of those we touch.
