As part of the team's preparations for their Conference USA game at New Mexico State, Liberty Head Football Coach Jamey Chadwell met with the media on Tuesday.
During the media session, Chadwell shared his final thoughts on the Homecoming win over FIU, plus looked ahead to this week's game at New Mexico State.
After Chadwell's weekly presser, tight end Zeke Wimbush and safety Izaiah Guy addressed the media from the Media Room inside the Liberty Football Center.
Saturday will mark the 10th all-time meeting between the Flames and Aggies, making New Mexico State Liberty's most commonly played opponent since joining the FBS ranks. Liberty is 7-2 versus New Mexico State, including a current four-game win streak in the head-to-head series.
Liberty owns the fourth longest active winning streak (seven games) among FBS squads and has held six straight opponents below 20 points. As a result, the Flames are receiving votes in both national Top 25 polls this week.
Jamey Chadwell is 32-14 in his fourth season at Liberty and owns a 63-20 coaching record dating back to the start of 2020. Chadwell is 21-8 against CUSA opponents with the Flames.
Liberty ranks No. 17 nationally for rushing offense (212.3 yards per game), and its depth was highlighted during the Flames' 49-10 Homecoming win over FIU. Four different players combined for six total rushing touchdowns and five Flames rushed for 20 yards or more. Kanye Udoh became the fifth different Flame to lead the team in rushing in a game this season.
Liberty's defense, which held FIU to 34 total rushing yards, is only allowing 8.3 points per game in its four CUSA victories. The Flames are now 15-0 under Jamey Chadwell when keeping their opponent from reaching 20 points. Eight different players have intercepted a pass this season, with seven of them doing so for the first time in their collegiate career.
